Limited Resources Label - drowt - LRL003

A seamless techno mini-suite from a dance music newcomer

Last week we released the third Limited Resources Label release! LRL003 comes from drowt, a drummer and producer from Wisconsin (who is not me, I swear). Although drowt has made albums of ambient and beat-oriented music that showed great attention to texture and melody, he had never made dance music before. The prompt was to have him focus all of his synthesis, rhythmic, and sound design skills into four-on-the-floor techno, and the resulting EP would be an exceptional release for a dancefloor veteran, much less an outsider.

LRL003 flows like a DJ set, with a consistent tempo and kick drum supporting the inventive and propulsive synths. "Perfume", "Heretic", and "Paranoia" are peak time rollers, while "Devotion" takes a dubby turn and "Cult" closes the set out with a dose of melody and ambience.
